" Questions of Life? "

Once in a while, when my mind is in a philosophical tone, I go through my books to read again snippets I have read in the past, to ruminate once more, to understand and appreciate layered  meanings in the words of poems, writings of Spiritual teachers, both ancient and contemporary.
Today, I came across writings from Rainer Maria Rilke, a BohemianAustrian poet. He is considered one of the most significant poets in the German language. He wrote hauntingly about Life's questions, answers, struggle to find meaning, significance in human existence and the journey to find true expression of inner worlds.
This is an excerpt from one of his books , "Letters To An Young Poet" written in 1903.
I feel that the below passage applies to all of us, even today, a century later, just as significantly as it would have done long ago. There is a certain poignancy in his words which makes one pause, breathe, listen to one's heart-beat and think...

Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a  foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer "

That, my friend, is writing from one's heart -- no editing, no judgement of one's journey, no criticism of one's choices, no analysis of all the should-be's and should-not-be's of Life's puzzles --- just an open acceptance of one's existential quandary, an acceptance of 'what is'.
It seems that one of our most important tasks through this Life is to find our own answers to our own questions, buried deep in our hearts and Live through the challenges, one at a time...

In Peace, but with questions,
Asha
