Poem - Anyway

I found this poem stuck to the hospital wall in Bangalore.
I was there with my mom, waiting for her test results to come back.
She had been getting treatment for Colon cancer, and has improved a lot in the past few weeks.

I found these few lines to be meaningful, true and they touched my heart.
In a crowded hospital, not knowing what the future holds, these lines spoke to me deeply.
At the end of all this we call Life, the only things we leave behind are memories, in the hearts of people we know..family, friends, and a few more people we have touched :)

Some of you may have read this poem before, but I wanted to share it with everyone I know.

ANYWAY
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
. . . Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
. . . Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
. . . Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
. . . Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
. . . Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
. . . Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
. . . Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
. . . Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

It sounds cliched, right?
But I found truth and freedom in these few lines..
Maybe you will find it too..

Finding peace,
Asha
